They say it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog. Formlabs built that into a 3D printer. The Form Studio 1 is Formlabs' entry-level mSLA system, designed for individuals who want professional print quality and a reliable workflow at an accessible price point.
The Form Studio 1
The Form Studio 1 has a build volume of 7.9" x 4.9" x 9.3". Layer heights range from 25 to 250 microns depending on material, and XY resolution is 35 microns — enough for sharp, detailed features. The print engine is Formlabs' Low Force Display, running at 405nm with 6mW/cm² of power across 28 LEDs. Open Material Mode is enabled out of the box, so the printer accepts any 405nm-compatible resin, including third-party materials.
The post-processing workflow on the Form Studio 1 matches other Formlabs mSLA printers — remove supports, wash in IPA or TPM, then UV cure. The Form Studio Wash+Cure handles both steps in a single unit, keeping the process straightforward and the footprint small.

The Form Studio 1 Build Platform Flex makes part removal easier. Pressing the platform's tabs creates a convex surface that releases parts quickly and cleanly. It's compatible with nearly every material available on the Form Studio 1 — the exception is elastomeric resins, which will conform to the flex surface rather than release.

Two tanks are compatible with the Form Studio 1. The standard tank is rated for at least 75,000 layers and designed for Alpha Resins, Flexible 80A Resin V2, and True Cast Resin. The optimized tank is built for Tough 1500 V2 Resin and materials run in Open Material Mode. Both fit the same printer — the right choice depends on what you're printing.
The Form Studio 1 puts a capable, reliable mSLA system within reach of a wider audience. Build volume is generous, the workflow is proven, and the material selection covers most use cases out of the box.
